Here
are the strict guidelines that I have set here for Endora if the following
rules are not adhered to, there is a three step process which will be
handled in a professional manner:
If
we hear-tell that an RPer is not abiding by all of the rules of Endora,
whether through an anonymous email or a topic brought up in the High Council,
the accused will be brought to the High Council and the following warnings
will be given out:
1.
The first warning of the offence: just a simple, "here’s what’s going
on, can you please stop what ever is making the other RPers discontent."
2.
The second warning: this warning is on the related topic to the
first offence, you will be told a little more strictly this time warning
that if you do not follow the rule you are breaking your account will be
banned from Endora.
3.
You will be notified that you are banned from Endora your character
will be wiped from the story.
I. Why do I need a character? Having
a character is the number one most important rule. If you don't have
a character, you cannot RP in our board. When RPing, keep in mind
that other people roll playing like to know what your character looks like,
acts like, what weapons they carry weaknesses etc. It provides for
a more interesting RPG and so, with that in mind I have set up a character
guideline in the Character Biographies
section.
II. How weak/strong can my character be? Your
character can be of any race, species and class however; its power level
can not be or surpass any god-like form (eg- no characters stronger than
Gandalf in LOTR).
III. Can I include an image when I submit my character? No, we
do not accept any images (at this moment) for your characters as we are limited
for webspace. There will eventually be a gallery for images but it will
be extremely limited. If you feel you need to leave an image for your
character it is suggested that you leave it on the board under Character Images
on the board.
IV. Can I have a Non-Played Character (NPC)? Non-Played
Characters are important in the boards. These are characters like
guards in a city, bartenders, and the average guy/girl walking down the
street. They can be played by anybody because they are not stated
in a character biography. They do not stay in the story for long
periods of time and don't play a key role in the story line. Reminder
that you can not ‘hog’ these characters, they are free to RP.
However,
if you include an NPC in your bio under "companions" you are the only
player that has control of this character. If this character equals
or surpasses your named character in power/intelligence and does not
have a special bond with your named character, the characters must be
separate and you need to create a separate account. The breaking
of this rule usually occurs when the NPC is human/elf/dwarf or an creature
with the intelligence of a human/elf/dwarf. Your NPC can not play
a direct role in the story (your main character has to always surpass
him/her) unless they are seperate accounts.
V. Can I double post if I have an NPC? Having
an NPC within your character does not give you automatic permission
to double post; however; you may separate your main character from your
NPC (within the same account) in different threads for a limited time.
If you do not include your NPC/animal companion in your bio then they
are free for anybody to RP.
Eg- Mary went
into the Caliente Desert expecting disaster as she searched for her
best friend, George.Eg- Meanwhile, Mary's cat, George, explored the sand on Magena Island; he missed his friend, Mary etc)... VI. How many characters can I role-play at once? 6,
no more. The reason is that we do not want our board being controlled
by one or two main players. We also do not encourage you to create
6 characters on the boards but only follow one. You have to keep
your characters going at all costs otherwise it frustrates other RPers.
To find out more about submitting a character, please take a look at the Character Biographies section. VII. How many threads can my character be a part of? One
thread per character. You can not jump threads as if you are a
God; you must stay to the "story line.” That means finishing what
you are doing before moving onto a different thread.
VIII. Can my character have the ability to love another character? Yes,
romance is up to you; we encourage the characters to have love/hate
relationships. However there will be no sexual intercourse in the
threads or in the OOC forums. That means no cyber sex and no obvious
nudity (there may be younger players). The only sex that will be
stated here will be whether your character is male or female.
IX. Can I take a personal vendetta against another character seriously? This
is a very prominent rule in Endora. Do not, under any circumstances
badmouth other RPers, unless you are in-acting between characters, but
even then, do not use racial slurs, do not * out intended swears and
do not swear period. If one character is angry at another character,
that is fine because it's part of the story, but don't let it get too
personal. If you have a problem with another player, keep it among
yourselves or bring up the situation with a mod or admin. We don't
want Endora to be a bad RPG experience for any beginners or for any experienced
players. If you have a personal problem, take it out of the thread.
If you have a problem with a rule that is being breached, take it to
the High Council.
This rule is enforced with righteous fury among the administrators.
X. Are there certain things that I can and cannot do/say when role-playing? We
do not tolerate hate. If you have a serious problem with somebody
in the board, please leave it for the outside. None of the other
players want their experience within Endora to be ruined by you.
If you have other serious, personal, problems for example suicide or you
enjoy making bombs in your non-RPG spare time, please do not tell us
and seek professional help as soon as possible.
Any
swearing or insulting can be left for a private viewing (email or some
OOC). Remember that we have the right to edit your messages,
but if it gets to be too much, we have the right to restrict your access
to the boards through the warning system.
XI. Can I ask the a/s/l of another persona? Privacy
is a very important rule in Endora. Please do not ask people who
they are, where they are, their age or their sex. Do not assume
that you know who that person is behind their alias. If we here complaints
about this occurring, admin will consider this harassment and it will
not be tolerated. If you wish to befriend another RPer, please
ask them if they are interested in you knowing about them.
Please respect the privacy of everybody in Endora. XV. Can I speak my own made-up language in the threads? There
are many characters on the board who speak other languages (whether
made up or fluent) Elven, Dwarven, etc. These languages are allowed in
the thread as long as you explain yourself and it has relevance to the
story (spell incantations etc). Not everybody speaks foreign or
fantastic languages, so keep it common (English) as much as possible.
If you
speak Elven or Dwarven, please do not make up your own and refer to Tolkien's
languages so that the characters can go for a reference on something they
don't understand. If it a language made up by your own imagination,
you may want a site with a dictionary of your language explaining what
your words mean. If you are a wizard and you use spell incantations
then why not try a Tolkien or Rowling approach to wizardry?
XII. What is OOCC? Out
of Character Chatting is when you chat among personalities, in an unrelated
topic within the threads. Please keep OOCC out of the threads as
much as possible because it chops the story line to bits and is disappointing
to RPers.
XIII. Where can I chat Out of Character? We
have a section specifically for those who want to chat out of character,
(Rishona Pub).
The Character
Images is there so that you can post your own character's images and
get critism and comments on them. Creative Delights
is a section where you can bring images, drawn by you, or written literature
that you want to share with the board; other players may help you with
some corrective critism. Within the third category is a forum called
"Endora SOS",
this is for Out Of Character help on a thread within the specific board,
not for chatting, but OOC is allowed in that area. Also in the second
category is a forum called Endora Archives,
you can gather here to discuss what is going on in your, or another thread.
XIV. Is there any exemption to the above rule? Yes,
although OOC messages are not coveted, we will not edit your message
or send you a warning message if the situation is one of the following:
Eg- (OOC: Sorry
it took me so long to reply, I've been busy lately.)Eg- (OOC: This thread continued from: [Place URL of thread here]) Eg- (OOC: This thread will be continued in: [Place URL of thread here] Please close thread.) Then the thread may continue with the story...
XVI. What is this land? This
RPG thread is based on a fictitious land called Endora. This country
is an island placed in the center of Moriarty Ocean. There are various
borders, cities, rivers and areas and you must comply with these. It would
be best to know where you originated from so that the other players can
be prepared and play with this. You don't have to be from Endora,
but it provides for easier understanding if you are. The land of Endora
is the thread so it really helps to know where you and the other characters
are going. For more information on Endora go to the Maps Section.
XVII. Can I RP out of this land? Your
character must not, while in the thread, stray out of Endora otherwise,
as you have run out of places to RP on our board. If you are confused
as to what something may be like, please visit our Maps Section or read the
subtitles in the board to the various places. Within the threads,
as your characters travel from one area to the next, you need to jump to
the different lands. You must state, when you skip threads where
you are going and (in the old thread) state where you came from (in the
new thread). This method allows the story to flow with more ease.
XVIII. Fighting Scenes i. How much power can my character have? Your
character is not God and must not represent a God-like creature.
He/she must have weaknesses to receive a hit every once in a while
in a battle against other RPers or NPCs. Whether this hit be minor,
critical or fatal, you must take hits during fight scenes for realism.
Eg-Joe
dodged the Dragon's breath but he was not fast enough for the last of
the fire which caused his shirt to light aflame. -- This is an example
of a wound that could be minor (if put out immediately) or fatal (if
Joe burns to the ground)
ii. What do I do when fighting NPC's? If
you are fighting a character that is not role played (eg-Orcs, villains,
townsfolk etc.) then you can chose if you take hits or not, this depends
on how powerful the imagined character is thought of, and it must be described
in such a way so that if it is a powerful character, then it is shown.
This is to decrease confusion between players.
Eg-
RPer #1: The Dwarf, with his axe, chopped at Tom. (This is an example
of nothing too vague; it seems like a weak Dwarf that could be defeated
with ease)
Eg-
RPer #2: The Dwarf was a stocky 5-foot tall creature, which is tall for
a Dwarf. He had strong, brutish arms that wielded an enormous axe;
he swung violently at Tom. (This is an example of a case that the
character would have more difficulty defeating.)
iii. How much realism should my fantasy character have? Your
character has to be believable and realistic. He/she can not be
obviously hit and then get up as if nothing happened. Some characters
get frustrated when this occurs and this causes problems.
Eg-
RPer#1: Mark stabbed Sally was stabbed in the left arm with a steel blade.
Blood poured fatally out of her wound.
RPer#2: Sally
stood up and ran away into the forest to greet her grandmother. This is an example of what not to write. iv. Can I control what another character does? You
can not control the fate of another character. You may push the
story line along and insinuate an action. You may not force that
character to do anything too demanding. That RPer has to realize
his/her fate.
Eg- Joe threw
the rock at Mary. Mary
has one of three choices, she can either be hit by the rock, dodge the
rock, or avoid being hit by the rock by means of a special power.
However,
if "Mary,” in this case, does not reply within a couple of days (or more
if it is stated elsewhere) then the next character does
have the right to push the story along. This rule can be a little
bit unclear but it is really explanatory when in conjunction with the
other points to this rule.
Moreover,
as mentioned previously, Mary can not avoid being hit every single time
she comes into conflict with another player. If you do not want to
be in a fight scene than it is suggested that you avoid those conflicts.
v. Do I have to take hits, really? Yes,
no matter if your character is a Sorcerer, Dragon, Human, Elven, Dwarven,
Hobbit or any created race they are not God and they have to take hits,
even if it means death. If you can deal the damage, then you can
take it too.
XIX. Non-Fighting Scenes: Fighting
scenes and non-fighting scenes are incredibly similar. You can not
control the fate of another character, that includes what they say or what
actions they take, unless it is arranged that way privately and the other
RPer does not mind. You have to contribute to the story during
calm scenes, even if you enjoy the excitement more. You can not just
slip in and out of the story when the battle begins, you have to participate
once you’re involved. If you don't want to be a part of the direct
action then stay as a support character on the sidelines.
If you want more information on Role Playing please visit our RPG Tips Section. XX. Can I double Post? In
Endora, double posting is not allowed. This is not your own personal
story, you are playing with multiple players and so keep it to a minimum,
one post at a time per character until another player has replied to
your post. If nobody is replying, you may want to try another thread.
XXI. Can I edit/delete my own posts? Ezboard.com has the neat function of
being able to edit and delete your own posts at your own discretion.
However, in Endora, this is discouraged if somebody has already posted
after you because then the story does not flow in the way it would if
you didn’t play with your posts. This function allows you to correct
any grammar or spelling errors in your post or you can change any vital
information that you wish to add (or take away). However, I repeat,
please refrain from editing posts that have already been replied to.
XXII. How often can I post? Post
as much as possible (within the limitations). Characters will continue
the story if you cease to continue posting. You are welcome to
jump back in whenever you want! As well, in the OOC rooms, you may
post, double post, triple post as many times as you like, as long as you
do not resort to Spamming. If you Spam, you will go through the warning
system.
XXIII. Must I abide by all the rules? Yes,
you must abide by all of these rules. If you happen to skip one,
you have two chances to redeem yourself, after these chances have been
used (your position/situation will be taken into consideration after
each time) your account will then be banned from Endora. After this
has occurred, your character/s will be disposed of within the story line
and the other RPers will continue with the thread.
XXIV. Must I respect Moderators and Administration? Respect is a key aspect in role playing in Endora. We respect and treat the other players and we would expect to be treated. This esspecially goes toward Moderators and Administrators as they have a level of power and it would be childish and rather stupid to disobey a command or rule set by a Mod or Admin. Disrespect for Mods and Admin will not be tollerated. XXV. Do these rules apply to Moderators and Administration as well? Yes,
these rules apply to absolutely everybody involved in Endora but especially
Moderators and Administration because these are the players who’s job
it is to be respectful and fair to everybody and set an example to follow.
Therefore, Moderators and Administrators will be selected carefully.
Depending
on the situation, the enforcing of these rules will be handled with righteous
fury!
